In addition to his thriving full-time private practice, is an Assistant Clinical Professor and a Clinic Chief at the Department of Dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he served as a resident 32 years ago. Dr. Goodman has been on the medical and dental faculties for the past 30 years and teaches and lectures weekly with the General Practice Residency program.
Dr. Goodman graduated from the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1973. He then went to Mount Sinai Residency Program, where he received "1 on 1", hands-on training in each specialty. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration (implants), American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the New York County Dental Society where he has served as the Chairman of the Ethics Department, Chairman of the Publication Committee, and Chairman of the Professional Practice Committee.
Dr. Goodman built his practice on satisfied patient's word-of-mouth referrals. Dr. Goodman also takes pride in his work with gold inlays and onlays, which are becoming a lost art. The techniques for their fabrication have been phased out in many dental schools because they are "not required on the state dental board exams". Dr. Goodman is New York State Certified in the use of Conscious Sedation, legally required for the administration of Nitrous Oxide and any other sedative agents.
Dr. Goodman has published many articles including one on dental emergencies for Dental Survey Magazine another about bleeding disorders and dental care for the National Hemophilia Foundation. He has also served as a consultant to Hemophilia Health Services. In addition, Dr. Goodman has lectured at National Hemophilia Foundation. More recent is his induction into the prestigious New York Academy of Dentistry.
Community Service / Interests
In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Goodman has been a Suffolk County Volunteer fireman for over 15 years. He was a Commissioner of the Fair Harbor Fire District, as well, for 10 years.
Dr. Goodman resides in New York City with his wife, Dr. Deborah J. Coady, a prominent obstetrician-gynecologist, and their two children (as well as a dog and cat).
He is also an outdoorsman, fisherman, hiker, occasional skier, and motorcycle enthusiast. His last continuing education course was during a 4 day ride from Scottsdale to the Grand Canyon and back with 12 other dentists. He appeared in a motorcycle documentary on TLC, narrated by Peter Fonda.
